After our initial reunion with old friends, we made it to a cool, quiet slumber around 4AM??! Geez. Where's the rest and relaxation?

Anyway, all is well. Of course, it wouldn't be August in South Florida & The Keys, if there wasn't a Tropical Storm (FAY) or Hurricane brewing somewhere in the Tropics- and here it comes. We are being told Key West is in the "3-Day Cone", with more information being available tomorrow.

If it looks as though the heavy rain-bands will flood our little island, it may be the opportunity for a real Road Trip- Key West to Park City?

Hmmmmm- I think Kristy is asking for rain. Go figure.

As for today, the weather is spectacular and we are going over to a friends house who just left his home in the Bahamas (avoiding FAY for a few more days) to swim in his pool, which he equipped with a wonderful "Chiller". A chiller cools the pool. Everything in Key West is usually the opposite of every normal thought process. Pool water, as well as the Atlantic/Gulf of Mexico get so hot down here, it's like jumping into a hot bath. Needless to say, it is not the most refreshing form of relief.

I need a ice box. Found it.

PS- More about our Hilton Head experience- once the taste Romper Room leaves my brain.

Many Cheers~
JK
Key West, FL
August 16, 2008

Travel Update

"Travel Updates" are all about getting out, getting lost and having some fun at whatever it is you do in life! If you will, please allow me to give you a brief introduction to the duo who will many times be the ones chatting and rambling on in this forum.

First and foremost is my girlfriend Kristy. She is a beautiful blonde, hailing from the suburbs of of Salt Lake City, Utah. Logistics alone is only a small portion of what makes her so darn delightful. The other is- she has the patience of a Saint!

When we met, she was living on Maui and I was quasi-sailing around the island chain. Consequently, things worked out and she and I have been Tropical Trotting on land and sea, for over three years now. Having criss-crossed the United States five or six times. Once, from Jupiter, Florida to Las Cruces, New Mexico in a singular 42-hour, meandering journey that took us through New Orleans and much of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina).

We have made landfall back in Hawaii three more times. Inched our passage through the Panama Canal and found ourselves spending rain soaked summers in Southeast Alaska- much to Kristy's dismay. This past winter was spent mostly in Key West and on the island of St. John in the USVI's.

Feeling we needed some form of sanity in our lives, she begged- uh, I mean, she "asked" our friends Tim & Sherry, who live in Hilton Head and were visiting for Christmas, if perhaps we could make a trip up to civilization, at least for the summer? Both, the kind hearted souls they are, readily agreed and before we knew it, we were living on a "plantation" of sorts called Sea Pines, on guess what?- another island.

Well? Welcome to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina??! Oh Lord. What have we done?

Anyway, then there is me- Jimmy. I tend to have a lot of fun. Let another adventure begin!
